From Fortaleza to Jeri - By car

Getting there >>

Going to Jericoacoara by car can be more comfortable than catching a bus, especially if you have a 4WD car, because you will be able to go directly to Jericoacoara. If you want to rent a 4WD, most of the car rental companies have an office inside the airport. The road to Jericoacoara is not well posted, therefore you should have a map. The map below shows all the towns of the road, so print it if you're going to drive. If you are not going in a 4WD vehicle, you won't be able to pass Jijoca. There you will find cheap parking lots to leave your car. You'll have to rent a pickup (R$ 40,00) to go to Jericoacoara, unless you arrive in Jijoca together with the buses (00:30 hs), in order to catch the 4WD vehicle of the bus company, that costs R$10,00 per person.

Some advices:

- From Jijoca de Jericoacoara to Jericoacoara, the roads are not paved and there are no direction signs. The road is really bad, so avoid to go by conventional vehicles. The damage cost for the car might be more expensive than a 4WD rental.

- There are local guides in Jijoca that can propose you to drive your non 4WD vehicle until Jericoacoara.Think well if is worth it.

- We recommend to book in advance your Hotel or Pousada, because the best lodging options run out quickly.
